Air emissions analysis – what is it?

Air emissions analyses are performed for projects that may have a significant impact on the environment. These are simulations modelling the spread of substances into the air (including nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide, Fine Suspended Particles PM2.5, PM10 and other pollutants) in the form of a separate attachment. The attachment may constitute an element of the project’s environmental impact report or the post-implementation analysis. All calculations are performed in accordance with the Ordinance of the Minister of the Environment of 26 January 2010 on reference values for some substances in the air and the Ordinance of the Minister of Climate of 24 September 2020 on emission standards for certain types of installations, fuel combustion sources and waste incineration or co-incineration devices.

How much does an air emissions analysis cost?

The cost of the analysis depends on the number of emission sources, the complexity of the data and the nature of the project. It’s important that the air emissions analysis meets, above all, the requirements set out in the Environmental Protection Law Act of 27 April 2001. That is why AvesNature makes every effort to ensure that the results reflect the actual planned impact on the environment. The costs of this type of analysis start from PLN 2,000. The current price list is also presented in the table below.

When is an air emissions analysis required?

Most often, the investor is required to perform such an analysis at the stage of the environmental impact report (the so-called scoping). Another example of a requirement to perform an appropriate analysis is compliance with the requirements resulting from separate regulations. However, the most significant issue for the investor is to obtain an environmental decision. Therefore, performing air emissions analysis as an element of an environmental impact assessment is crucial.

Our Environmental Expertise Office has many years of experience in performing air emissions analyses. We undertake air emissions analyses all over Poland.

Air emissions analysis – what does it include?

Air emissions analysis includes, among other things: characterisation of air emission sources, location of potential emission sources, amount of pollutants introduced, receptor grid calculations, graphical interpretation and a summary in a descriptive form.

Support for the investment process

AvesNature sp. z o. o. carries out tasks related to preparing documentation necessary to obtain environmental decisions. Our team has experience in participating in environmental decisions.

Determining legal requirements for emissions

All studies are carried out in accordance with the applicable standards and requirements for assessing the environmental impact of your project. We try to propose the real impact of the investment plan and suggest state-of-the-art technologies to reduce the impact of your installation, as well as minimising solutions.

Supervision of documentation and proceedings

We carry out comprehensive environmental impact studies and provide substantive support and clarification of environmental issues. Furthermore, we suggest the most likely scenarios (variants) of the project with calculations and modelling of pollution and noise.

AvesNature sp. z o.o. prepares environmental impact reports and Project Information Sheets. We have experience in obtaining environmental decisions and we try to propose the real impact of an investment project. The company applies the latest technological solutions and recommends the best ways to minimise environmental impact. We provide comprehensive support and effective action in the field of environmental impact assessment.

Benefits of air emissions analysis

  • Obtaining answers about the impact of the plant’s current and/or planned operations on air quality, taking into account all emission sources in the study area (regardless of spatial constraints), i.e. the municipal sector, other point sources, transport and inflows from other areas.
  • An in-depth analysis of the period under study allows for demonstrating the achieved ecological effect of the implemented measures. It can also support the decision-making process of choosing the best solution by examining various scenarios in relation to future conditions.
  • A comprehensive approach to assessing the impact of a company’s facility on air quality: diagnosis of the current situation, review of available analyses, expert opinions and interpretations, simulation of variants of possible solutions, discussion of the results of the analysis with the client, conclusions — allows a broad spectrum view of the problem to be obtained and provides key information for taking further steps towards solving the specific problem.
  • Ability to dynamically visualise impacts and/or graphically present data in a GIS system — as material that can be used to communicate with stakeholders.
  • Possibility to prepare questions to the competent authority (ministry) and proceed until the necessary answers are obtained.
